I have a good friend named Tonie, who was inspired by the Kony 2012 video/movement, and wanted to make a difference. Recently this year she won a $10k scholarship for her education. She campaigned for over a month every day to get people to vote for her online to win, and she put in a LOT of work and won! People were really generous and persistent with their time and votes, and really went above and beyond to help her earn the scholarship. Her inspiration for her newest campaign, to raise $10k towards the movement to stop human trafficking came from her gratefulness in earning her scholarship. She decided to raise the same amount of money towards a cause that is impacting and helping others. This is another practical way that you can get involved in the Kony 2012 movement.
This is a HUGE goal, and really kind of scary! She wants to raise $10k in 8 weeks, ending on May 12th. The whole idea is to get 80 people to get 5 individuals to donate $25 each towards the campaign. You of course can choose to donate on your own, but it’s a cool idea to be an advocate for the cause, and spread the word. There isn’t a lot of time, so move fast! If you want to be an advocate and get 5 people to donate $25, let me know and I’ll get you hooked up.
If you want to donate on your own, HERE is the online page through Crista that you can donate at.
Tonie is choosing to do her fundraiser towards World Concern’s mission to stop human trafficking. As some of you may know, there has been some controversy over Invisible Children and where their money goes, so World Concern is a wise and safe choice as they have a very good reputation. If you haven’t heard about Kony or the movement to capture him and stop human trafficking, check out the post I did earlier with the video, HERE.
