This year has been full of geometric patterns, neons, fun colors and really featuring design in different ways. One of my favorite ways these styles have been implemented into fashion is through manicures. There have been so many different unique ways to bring some spunk to your nails, which are completely new to me. I remember in junior high playing around with polka dots or flowers on my nails, but nothing anywhere near as awesome as what is going on now! I have seen some design aspects on manicures this year that have been great, and some that are just overwhelming! I enjoy these little surprises of design in moderation, not all over. Infinity Scarf for a Cause
I have had a fascination all fall and winter with infinity scarves. I have never owned one, but they look so warm and fun! I never got around to buying one for the cold seasons this year, but jumped on the opportunity to have one made by my friend Angelica! She started her own little etsy-like shop called Four Points Designs by AC, and custom makes scarves and other goodies. She was selling some in particular to raise money towards her pageant endeavors, and as I support the Miss America Organization and have participated in their pageants in the past, (which is how I initially met Angelica,) I was all too eager to finally get a gorgeous infinity scarf! The proceeds from the purchase went towards her participation in the Miss Eastside/Columbia Basin competition….hence why I quickly justified my purchase ;) I mean, come on, it is always good to have a REASON to justify why you bought something…. haha :) Continue reading
Product Review: L’oreal Paris Magic Smooth Souffle Blush
There is a new trend going on is cosmetics this spring….cream blush. If you are like me, when you think of blush you don’t think that any blush existed beyond the traditional powder blush. Well, this new fad with cream or mouse blush makes complete sense! I have never been much of a fan of powder blush, it just sits awkwardly on my skin and doesn’t blend well. Plus, I hate the look of powder on your skin…just looks fake and weird. For years I wore tinted moisturizer because I loved the natural and sheer look it provided. So, as you can see, I am not a fan of heavy makeup or looking fake…..let me introduce you to cream blush!!! Continue reading
Birchbox: April 2012
I always get excited at the beginning of the month because I know my Birchbox will be coming. This month’s theme was centralled around Earth Day. The box was filled with samples from various brands, Befine, YesTo, Lulu Organics, Zoya and Taylor Swift. For those of you who haven’t heard of Birchbox, you sign up online for $10 a month, and you get a box full of goodies around the 15th! Each box has a theme, and sometimes you get small samples and other times you get full size products. You try the products and then go online to your account and review them, with each review being worth 10 points. 100 points gets you $10 off any product you purchase through them. Your points can rack up for up to one year, and if you have not used them at that point, then they disappear. You also get points for referring people to sign up for Birchbox! Overall, it’s a really fun way to try new products each month!
