DIY Easy Geometric Painting

I have had this blank canvas sitting around for a year or so now, and just never got around to doing anything with it. I finally decided it was time to just break it out and whip something up. I hadn’t painted in quite a while, as after my painting classes I just got really burnt out and never regained the time to experiment. So, I decided to just go for it. I am really loving geometric shapes and bright colors for spring, and decided to use that as my inspiration. I drew out a basic idea of what I was thinking, and decided on my four colors. I chose four colors because those are my top four favorite colors for spring 2012! I laid out my design with no particular fashion except I started with the big section off to the left. I then decided to do triangles for the right side.  Continue reading

Product Review: Korres

So a month ago I was given an awesome gift for working at an event. I got a bag filled with three beauty products by Korres. I had never heard of the brand before, but knew they were high end due to the fact that they were gifts given to those who paid well over $10,000 for their table at the event. So, I set out to discover some info about the company, the products I received, and to give them a try! It has been a month now of using the products religiously, so I thought I would give a review.

Birchbox {March 2012}

Every month I look forward to my wonderful Birchbox! I am never 100% sure what day it will arrive, but I anticipate it every month around the 12th to 15th and anxiously check the mail! Birchbox is a company where you pay $10 a month and you get a box full of sample products! You sign up and fill out a beauty profile, and some of the products each month are directed towards that profile, and others are put in every box. Each month has a theme, and you get to give reviews of the products online for points. Every 100 points is worth $10. If you like some of the products in your box, you can purchase the full size online and use your points towards the prodcuts! You also earn points for purchasing the products through Birchbox. It really is a great deal and super fun to anticipate your box each month!

80 People to 10k

I have a good friend named Tonie, who was inspired by the Kony 2012 video/movement, and wanted to make a difference. Recently this year she won a $10k scholarship for her education. She campaigned for over a month every day to get people to vote for her online to win, and she put in a LOT of work and won! People were really generous and persistent with their time and votes, and really went above and beyond to help her earn the scholarship. Her inspiration for her newest campaign, to raise $10k towards the movement to stop human trafficking came from her gratefulness in earning her scholarship. She decided to raise the same amount of money towards a cause that is impacting and helping others. This is another practical way that you can get involved in the Kony 2012 movement. Fabulous Find!

So, this weekend as I was enjoying some time on the internet, “window shopping,” I came across these GREAT Steve Madden wedges! These “Wisttle Peep-toe Booties,” in taupe are fantastic! Made of suede, have a cute zipper on the inside side and super comfortable. Unfortunetly, they are $99 at Macys, and currently on sale at $89….still quite a bit above my price range. I pinned them on Pinterest, but didn’t think I would ever get them…. Continue reading

Uganda…How You Can Help

So, as you may have noticed, there has been a ton of coverage and talk on the interweb the past couple days about Uganda. Specifically, Kony and the campaign to capture him and bring him to justice in 2012. I had heard of Invisible Children, and was aware of their goals to stop human trafficking. However, I was unaware of the story of Uganda, and the role Kony had to play in it. I can honestly say that my eyes have been opened even more to the troubles that the world faces every day. Problems and troubles that I have yet to see, fully grasp or expereince, and I hope I never have to. But the reality of it sets in, I have it so good here in America and the westernized world. So, with that being said, let’s take a look into what is going on, and how you can help. Continue reading

UV Gel Manicure…Is It Worth It?

There is this new craze going around the nail salons of UV Gel manicures! Have you heard of them? I knew nothing about them until I saw something about it on Pinterest, and my curiosity was sparked. I wondered whether they were like acrylics or more like a nail polish, and how the process worked and if it was safe. So, I set out to do some initial research online. I found a few blogs about them, and some general reviews. Most of what I found said that it lasts at least 14 days! THIS was exciting and shocking!!! My regular manicure lasts maybe a day, 2 if I am lucky, without chipping. I typically have to re-do my nails every 5 days because they just start to look embarrassing. So, a manicure that lasts up to 14 days without chipping???? Uh, YES PLEASE!!! My only concerns were A) the price…I’m on a tight budget!  B) will it damage my natural nails? C) will it really last 14 days without chipping?? So, I set out to try it myself….. Continue reading
