Academy Awards Part II

One of my favorite parts about the awards season is the FASHION!! I just love watching the arrivals of the stars and seeing who they are wearing and picking my top outfits. Most awards I tend to have my top 3 but most definitely a top number one! However, with the 84th Annual Academy Awards, it was rather difficult to pick just one! I have to say there were a lot of great gowns and tuxes, but not really a show-stopper. There were not a lot of risks taken this time, and a lot more tasteful and sophisticated looks. None the less, I will do my best to go over my top looks for both men and women from this year’s Oscars! Continue reading

Academy Awards Part I

Last night I watched the Academy Awards on ABC, and this is the first of two posts that I will be doing about the event. This first one is the most personal. While watching the Oscars, I was brought back to my artistic roots. I started my creative journey with theatre and film. I originally fell in love with the arts through intently watching films, and being engrossed in their magical stories and visions. I then transitioned to acting. I loved being in the spotlight, pretending to be someone else somewhere else. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I ventured into other artistic realms and discovered what I love to do. The Academy Awards brought back all of my emotion and love for film. Vancouver Art Gallery {Art Auction 2012: Desire}

This past weekend I had the incredible opportunity to work at the annual Vancouver Art Gallery gala, Art Auction 2012. I love working events, and this was an absolute blast! I got to experience a huge, high-profile event first hand in a different country, and witness all aspects of it the day-of. The above image was taken by Melissa Baker of Bake Photography during the live auction that took place in the art gallery. Continue reading

I’m Marrying a Pinterest Celebrity

I have talked about Pinterest previously on this blog, but just as a refresher for those of you who are new, or just haven’t gotten on the bandwagon yet! Pinterest is an online creative tool that is similar to a bulletin board, inspiration or a mood board. You can “pin” images you like and they link back to their original source. You can follow your friends and strangers and see what they are “pinning” and “liking.” It really is an awesome tool and time-sucker! I found out about Pinterest this past summer in June from my favorite graphic designer, Promise Tangeman. I very quickly introduced my fiance, Nathon, to the site as well as my mom and sister. Nate created an account, but used it solely for “creative purposes at work.” Somehow all of a sudden, he has over 104,000 followers?! Continue reading

My Passion in Life

Throughout the years it has been a challenge for me to figure out what my passion in life is, and a statement to live by. I spent my first year of college in 2007-2008 really focusing on who I am and where I am headed, while exploring different hobbies and activities. I was an intern with a nonprofit religious organization called Newlife and worked with the youth program each week. I took classes every Thursday with some other young adults, and really got to dive deep into who I am. Now, I had always thought I had a good idea as to who I am and my personality  etc, but these classes really opened my eyes to how much I was unaware and what was undiscovered. Continue reading

Stella & Dot Serenity Stone Earrings…Spotted!

So for Valentine’s Day, my incredible fiance bought me these GORGEOUS earrings from Stella & Dot. They are called Serenity Stone Drop, which is hand-cut semi precious jade hand set in 12 carat gold plated hammered brass bezel! I absolutely LOVE them! I saw them on a blog I follow as a giveaway, and entered to win. I was seriously doubtful because I never win anything. Nathon was sitting next to me and saw me enter to win them, and was listening to me go on-and-on about how pretty they are. He suddenly got up to “go pay bills,” and disappeared. I thought nothing of it, but turns out, he got up and purchased them for me! What a sweetheart!?! I was so surprised when he gave them to me :) Continue reading

Top 5 from Pinterest

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest yet, you are missing out! Pinterest is a great online tool that allows you to “pin” images and links to their original source on an online board, which you can share with the world and your friends. You can follow your friend’s boards and follow stranger’s boards as well. People can “repin” your “pins,” and you can do the same! You can “like” pins and comment on them too. It’s seriously amazing. It has been around for a year now, and I found out about it this past July, and have just been loving on it since. I even got my sister, mom and fiance on board! (Though my fiance uses it only for “artistic” inspiration, and instead I have a Men’s Fashion board for him on my account!) Pinterest has generated a lot of great ideas for my sister as she is a first-year teacher, and uses it to come up with projects, decorations, worksheets etc for her first graders! Seriously, Pinterest is amazing. Continue reading

Birchbox {February}

So, I am happy to announce that I am in the process of giving my blog a MAJOR facelift! This is a really positive thing because it gives me an opportunity to expand, refocus and settle in. In the previous months I have been very wishy-washy on this blog, not because I don’t want to blog, but because I haven’t been sure as to what direction this blog should be headed. I have had some clarity over the past week and am excited about the future of this site! Continue reading
